You Did Not Wake Up Today to Be Mediocre
I was lucky to have met many successful people in my life until today.
All of them had a common feature, they did not like mediocrity, even though sometimes they were necessarily mediocre because the situations imposed it.
You can see in their eyes the shine of perfection, the shine of excellence. Τhe difference between mediocrity and excellence is often a matter of effort.
And you know what?
When you have had a taste of excellence, you cannot go back to mediocrity.
We all have come to face the mediocrity at some point. This may be in our work, in our relationships, in our everyday life.
Some fall into the trap of mediocrity, some despise, and others adore it.
But as they say, the only way to get out of mediocrity is to keep shooting for excellence.
We don’t want to think about our weaknesses.
We don’t want to talk about them, and we certainly don’t want anyone else to point them out.
This is a classic sign of mediocrity.
Some people deny that they are mediocre, just because no one told them so. Excellence, is a better teacher than mediocrity.
The lessons of the ordinary are everywhere. Truly profound and original insights are to be found only in studying the exemplary.
You may often think of yourself: “Am I moderate? Do I give 100% of my potential? Am I good at my job?”.
Have been there, have done that.
And you know what? The hunger of success is driven by your fear of mediocrity.
Success can not be without mediocrity, “good” will not stand out if there was no “bad”.
Accept yourself, do not be afraid to aim high, always listen to others but no take for granted their opinion. Just collect your “data”, analyze them inside your head and keep what YOU think is necessary.
And do not be afraid or criticism. Only mediocrity escapes criticism.
Last but not least, tomorrow morning ask yourself:
“Did I woke up today to be mediocre?”.
